How to make this easy pineapple upside down cake trifle!  An easy trifle dessert that reminds us of our favorite pineapple upside down cake!

Welcome to the Ultimate Trifle Dessert Series!!  I’m so glad you have joined me!  We’ll be talking all about trifles for the next few posts, so be sure to come back and click for more delicious trifle desserts! Summer is here, and I have a yummy, fruity, creamy trifle dessert for you that my daughter created one day in our kitchen.  My oldest loves to make fun recipes and cook, so when I tried this Pineapple Upside-Down Trifle of hers I thought it tasted like paradise and knew I had to share. It’s cute, it’s bright, it’s colorful! The best part is- that it’s so easy, so when you feel like something delicious, but feel too lazy to do anything elaborate, you can just whip this trifle recipe up!  We also call this Pineapple Cream Trifle because the pineapple cream in it is super heavenly.

How to make Pineapple Upside Down Cake Trifle

  1. For this recipe, you will need a yellow cake mix, a 3.5 oz. box of pudding mix, a pint of heavy whipping cream, a can of pineapple chunks, and some maraschino cherries.  Of course you can use your favorite homemade cake recipe too.

2. Make the pudding as directed on the box.

3. For added pineapple flavor, mix about 3 tablespoons of the canned pineapple juice in with the pudding. (Until you can taste some pineapple, but the pudding still should keep its consistency.)  This is actually SUPER DELICIOUS!  Try not to eat it before you make your trifle!

4. Layer the cake, whipped cream, pineapple and pudding.

5. End with whipped cream and a cherry on top.  For more information on how to layer a large trifle dessert see our Fresh Berry Trifle post.  We made ours into mini trifle desserts using little mason jars.  Makes a very fun and refreshing treat.

A twist on the traditional pineapple upside down cake dessert

  • Author: Lisa Jorgensen

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cups of vanilla pudding (instant is fine)
  • 1 can of pineapple in juice
  • 2-3 cups of cake cubes (a 9x13 yellow cake is best, any recipe.)
  • 3-4 cups of whipped cream (fresh is best)
  • About 2 cups of sugar
  • Maraschino cherries

Instructions

  1. Drain the juice from the can of pineapple into a cup. Cut your cake into cubes, whip your cream, and make your pudding. Add about 3 tbsp. of pineapple juice from the can to the pudding for added flavor. Then start layering in a medium size bowl or trifle dish. Or you can layer individually into mason jars. Continue layering until all the ingredients are gone, finishing with whip cream on top.  Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.  Enjoy!

Enjoy a themed dinner while you watch a fun movie. The menu goes a long with the movie and is served to you while you are watching the scene it relates to. We saw Holes (which we love!) but there are many others to choose from. Our menu had a fun drinks, appetizers, main course, sides, and dessert. I left satisfied and had a fun time with my hubby and our friends.

Purchase tickets online. Seating is first come, first served so arrive early if you want a certain seat (though there isn’t a bad seat at all). Let me know if you try this!

Definitely full of kid vibes but adults will like it too. A who-dun-it mystery. We laughed out loud a lot more than we expected!

Are you wondering if the Thanksgiving Point Festiv Are you wondering if the Thanksgiving Point Festival is worth visiting this year? Here’s a look at what we saw today.

We’ve had a lot of up and down weather so I wasn’t surprised to find a lot of the tulips already finishing up their season on April 23. BUT we still found quite a few areas with some big, beautiful blooms and it was a peaceful walk with less crowds. There were signs reminding us that more tulips were going to be blooming soon, so maybe wait a week or so if you want to see those new tulips.

Thank you @utahstulipfestival for a fun visit! @thankspoint @theashtongardens #tulipfestival #utahtulipfestival #tulipseason #springinutah #traveltips

It’s was the perfect day to see a rom com and my hubby was a good sport to see a play called “Hallmarked” (NOT his favorite play so far). The play definitely lives up to its name—lots of predictable moments, plot holes, and cheesy lines. 🫤 But when it makes fun of itself, you will laugh and leave feeling lighthearted.
