Simple Sugar Cookies

SIMPLE Sugar Cookies.  I know you already have a recipe for sugar cookies.  But is it SIMPLE?  And I know you are trying to eat healthy (so am I), but you still may need this sugar cookie recipe someday.  This is my SIMPLE recipe that I have had since my newlywed days.  I cannot remember where I got it.  But I love this because it’s as easy as any cookie recipe and they taste buttery and soft.  These sugar cookies have nothing weird in them.  No buttermilk, or sour cream, or whatever.  There’s no chilling involved.  They just have regular cookie ingredients–so simple.  AND THEY TASTE PERFECT.

These are My Man’s favorite food.  I’m not kidding . . .

SIMPLE SUGAR COOKIES

3/4 cup softened butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt

Cream butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.  Then add the rest of the ingredients (dry) and mix thoroughly.  Mix until you have a nice thick dough.  Add more flour as needed to achieve this.   Cut into shapes and put on parchment paper on a baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 6-8 minutes.

THAT’S ALL!

Cream butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla

Mix until you have a nice thick dough like this.  Add more flour as needed to achieve this.

The kidlets love the cookie-cutter part.

Bake at 375 for 6-8 minutes.  Nice and thick as they bake.  By the way, I like to use parchment paper like this for easy clean up and no sticking!

Nice and SOFT when they are done.  These cookies are NOT dry.  They are buttery and soft.

These go perfectly with my Easy Homemade Cream Cheese Frosting.  It’s so quick and good (click picture for recipe)!!

Go ahead, make a whole bunch.  Let me know what you think…
