A Hidden Vintage Paradise–In Capitol Reef National Park

I recently shared with you some photographs I took of Capitol Reef National Park  and how to visit Capitol Reef in one day.  Well, I wanted to show you one more thing about the park.  It’s a cute little vintage home within the National Park.  Since “vintage” is the thing these days, I thought some of you might like to see this place and the pictures I took in Fruita, Utah in the heart of Capitol Reef.

In the park they have the old Gifford Homestead from the small town of Fruita that once was nestled in the middle of the park.  Now the home is open for visitors and has a little shop with homemade jellies, syrups, and salsas..  It’s a vintage paradise full of memories and charm.

Fruita was a tiny isolated settlement founded by Mormon Pioneers.  They planted orchards that are still there today.  The park lets you pick fruit from the orchards during harvest time.

They have all kinds of salsas and jellies.  They also sell homemade pies.  Yum.

We bought the Strawberry Rhubarb Jam because My Man loves all things RHUBARB.

The nearby orchards in the park were full of apples and ready to harvest.

The park lets you pick your own fruit during harvest.  We got bagfuls of apples.  They leave out ladders and tools to help you pick whenever you want.  Our kidlets loved it.

The orchards were full of deer as well.  They were not afraid to eat the fallen apples alongside the
apple pickers.

See the people picking nearby?  There was at least 10-15 deer each evening.  Kinda cool.

If you ever get a chance to visit Capitol Reef, make sure to step back into time by visiting the Gifford Homestead.Have a great day!!!
