Here’s my big confession: I’m not perfect . . . (yeah, I know you are NOT shocked by this). And I’m not going to pretend to be perfect on this blog either, as you may have already seen.
On any given day you could come to my house and find it a complete wreck. And then you may come again another time and find it clean and beautiful. Some days I do my hair and it looks great. Some days I don’t wear make-up or even touch my hair. I’m not super artistic, but I like learning to be crafty and I’m thankful for internet tutorials. I’m not super organized, but I do try to keep a regular schedule. I have a college degree, but I feel like I could have learned more. I’m not articulate in everyday speech, but if I take the time I can prepare a good public speech. I can make food, but I’m not known for my cooking. I like physical exercise and try to do it for my health, but the truth is laziness can be so fun too! I’m not a musician, but I try to pass on to my kidlets what music knowledge I have (including “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” at bedtime). Sometimes I get mad and argue with my family (and even yell raise my voice). 😉 Sometimes I am amazingly patient and calm through the hardest of times.
But I don’t have to be or do any of these things to be a good mom.
Why do we Mom’s have to “confess” that we are not perfect (because we think we should be) OR else pretend that we are? Whose idea was that?
Motherhood is not about perfection.
Motherhood is about loving your family.
Motherhood is about trying.
Motherhood is about learning.
Motherhood is about being yourself.
Motherhood is about not giving up.
Motherhood is about waking up and doing it again and again.
Motherhood is about the joy of PB&J kisses.
Motherhood is about finding Joy in the Journey.
Motherhood is worth it.
