SNOW ON MY PLANT BABIES! Yes, just as I feared! Aaack! There’s that Murphy’s Law at work again in my life.
I know, I know. You smart gardener people are shaking your heads in an “I told you so” manner and saying out loud to your computer screen, “Lisa, you should have waited.”
Well, I didn’t. So here’s what I did to save them. . .
It started out as cold rain. It rained all day.
I noticed the temps going lower and lower. So the kidlets and I ran outside in the constant drizzle and mud and covered each BABY with a bucket or bowl.
We put rocks on top because the wind was really starting to blow.
And then we waited for morning . . .
It snowed overnight. We all hoped the plants were okay.
When the temps went abovet 30 degrees and the snow started melting, I went and checked the damage. The plants looked okay.
There were a few signs of stress though.
This tomato looked a little droopy.
But this tomato seemed strong and robust.
The petals of the flowers died, but hopefully they’ll make a comeback because the rest of the plant looks good.
We got another day or so of yucky weather . . . and so continues our Garden Drama.
