Salt Dough Ghosts and Paper Sack Tree Craft for Kids

How to make this fun Halloween craft for kids!  Halloween salt dough ghosts and pumpkins and paper sack trees are fun for kids to make!

Last week Baby Girl and I were feeling crafty so we created some Halloween decor from some items we already have at home.  This is often a favorite activity for the younger kidlets in our family. Years ago I saw an idea similar to this in a magazine and we made it with my oldest two children.  Now it was Baby Girl’s turn.  It’s Halloween Salt Dough Ghosts and Spooky Paper Sack Trees.  This is an easy activity because you mostly likely have most of these items at home already!

PAPER SACK TREES

All you need is a brown paper lunch sack and some rocks.  Find some rocks in the backyard or use floral gems around the house.  Marbles would work too.  Even Legos or small toys.

And now you have a tree!

SALT DOUGH GHOSTS & PUMPKINS

These are kinda like the Indoor Snowman we made in winter.
First, you need to make some salt dough.  This is my recipe.

Then just start creating.  Here’s how we made our ghosts and pumpkins:

Make them any size, just make sure you flatten the bottom a little so it will stand up. Add sticks into the pumpkins and little lines.

Bake them for 10 mins at 350.  Just watch for when they start to harden.  They will harden more after you take them out of the oven.

When they cool, use markers to color on faces and add details.

And that’s it!  Have some simple fun with your kidlets today!

Make it a meaningful day!

Oh, and have you seen the realistically (and ridiculously) simple Halloween party we had last week?  Minute-to-Win-It games, decor, food, and party bag ideas that are SUPER EASY!
