How to make GIANT DICE

I’ve been at it again.  I got all crafty making some GIANT DICE for my LDS church primary kids.  Remember how I’m the Primary Chorister at church?  I teach music to about 130+ children for about an hour each Sunday.  So every week I like to come up with new ideas to change it up a little.  This time I wanted to do a game with dice, but because the groups is so large I wanted BIG DICE.  This dice works great for church, school, parties, etc. So here’s what I did:

I went to post office and asked if they had boxes shaped like cubes.  It turns out they had Christmas ones on clearance (about $3.50 each).  Perfect.  This one is 8x8x8  You can also order them online:

I measured and cut out squares of scrapbook paper for each side.  I applied Elmer’s glue with a sponge brush to make sure it would not be bumpy and so it was stick thoroughly.

When you are done, it looks awesome.

You can add dots or numbers like I did.  You can also add pictures or letters.  Some many possibilities.  I then covered it with clear packing tape, just to help it last longer with all the rolling.
The kids LOVED rolling the giant dice (I did too . . .).  Here’s the game we used with it.  It’s a great teaching game for helping kids remember the words to the songs or whatever you are memorizing.

HOW MANY WORDS? GAME

1. Choose a child to come up
(I had 2 kids come up so they could work as a team and to give more kids a chance)
2. Have the child roll the giant dice down the aisle or across the floor.

3.  Whatever number it lands on is how many words they have to answer when the pianist stops.

4. The pianist will play the song you are practicing and have all the children sing with you.  The pianist will randomly stop in the middle of the song, or wherever.  And everybody stops singing.

5.  The child as to tell what the next words are (up to the number that they rolled).  If you have two kids then they can consult with each other.  I didn’t keep score, but you could if that works well with your group.

This ROLL-A-SUNDAE Game is a great way to use your big dice at an ice cream party.  Click on the image for more info and free printables:

Definitely full of kid vibes but adults will like it too. A who-dun-it mystery. We laughed out loud a lot more than we expected!

Are you wondering if the Thanksgiving Point Festiv Are you wondering if the Thanksgiving Point Festival is worth visiting this year? Here’s a look at what we saw today.

We’ve had a lot of up and down weather so I wasn’t surprised to find a lot of the tulips already finishing up their season on April 23. BUT we still found quite a few areas with some big, beautiful blooms and it was a peaceful walk with less crowds. There were signs reminding us that more tulips were going to be blooming soon, so maybe wait a week or so if you want to see those new tulips.

Thank you @utahstulipfestival for a fun visit! @thankspoint @theashtongardens #tulipfestival #utahtulipfestival #tulipseason #springinutah #traveltips

It’s was the perfect day to see a rom com and my hubby was a good sport to see a play called “Hallmarked” (NOT his favorite play so far). The play definitely lives up to its name—lots of predictable moments, plot holes, and cheesy lines. 🫤 But when it makes fun of itself, you will laugh and leave feeling lighthearted.
Leave your questions in the comments section if you want to more of my thoughts about this new play. #halecentertheater #thingstodoinutah #emptynesterlife #valentinesdaydate #familytravelideas
