Camping at Lodgepole Campground

Basic information for camping at Lodgepole campground in Utah.  It’s one of our favorite places!
One of our favorite places to camp as a family is Lodgepole Campground near Heber City, UT.  It’s a small campground, but it holds a lot of memories for us as a family.  I thought I’d share a quick review of this campground and show you some photos from some of our favorite trips there. For more travel reviews, itineraries, and family-friendly travel ideas visit my TRAVEL SECTION and see all the places you could explore!
It’s a beautiful area, and I went camera happy . . . so bear with me, I’ll be posting tons of gorgeous photos.

Things to know about Lodgepole Campground in Uinta National Forest:

  1. It’s very close to Heber City, Utah which makes it easy to get supplies from town if you need them.

  2. It has very tall lodgepole pine trees (hence it’s name) so it’s a pretty shady campground overall.

  3. The bathrooms are clean with flushing toilets.

  4. Picnic tables are sturdy and campsites are well taken care of

  5. It’s only 20 minutes from Strawberry Reservoir

  6. A major downside is that it’s close to a very noisy highway.  You will hear it all night.

Lodgepole is located in the Uinta National Forest in Heber Valley.  It’s only 20 minutes away from Heber City, Utah which is a growing mountain city that includes a Walmart, grocery stores, and a quite a few restaurants.  Our favorite family-friendly restaurant in Heber City is Dairy Keen (Home of the Train).  They are famous for their burgers and shakes as well as the fun train-themed atmosphere that kids love.

It’s named for all the TALL Lodgepole pines in the area.
As you can see from these pics, it’s got some great features: tons of trees in the campground, nice secluded spots, clean bathrooms with flushing toilets (that’s a HUGE plus!!), and good sturdy tables and fire pits.  It’s also very close to Strawberry Resevoir, so if you are into fishing or boating of any kind, it’s not too far from all the fun of that area.
The ONLY downside I found to this campground was that it is near a highway.  I took this picture from our camp spot.  It’s not too bothersome, but you can definitely hear diesels charging up and down the road.  But I think the beauty of the area is still worth it.
I’ve fallen in love with photography.  It helps me capture the beauty that I see from all angles.  And it helps me remember that beauty and the fleeting moments of life.   We went of a couple of hikes and I thought so much of it was peaceful and serene. . . hopefully the following photos help you see how beautiful it can get up there.

New movie coming out that I want to see. I remembe New movie coming out that I want to see. I remember when this happened in 1989. The boy Josh was lost in an abandoned mine in UT for 5 days. It was a miracle how they found him. He was about my age so it made an impression on me. Now this true story has been made into a movie called Faith of Angels. @faithofangelsfilm

Did you go to 801 Day at @hoglezoo in Utah? Ticket Did you go to 801 Day at @hoglezoo in Utah? Tickets were only $8.01 on 8/01 and the zoo opened at 8:01 am.
I went with my nieces and nephews and it was VERY BUSY! (like Disneyland busy). We arrived about 11 am and every parking lot was completely full and side streets were filling fast. Needless to say we had to walk a bit in the heat just to get to the front gate. There were lines to get in, lines, at snack shops, and definitely a line for the train. BUT we saw some animals—-lions, tigers, bears (oh my!)…plus giraffes, zebras, and a leopard. It was definitely worth $8.01 but it’s not for the faint of heart. A fun adventure! #hoglezoo #801day #familyactivities #hoglezooutah 🐒🐅🦒🐘🦓
So the amount of car wash centers popping up every So the amount of car wash centers popping up everywhere has made me curious. Why are they everywhere?! So we decided to try is and see what the fuss was all about. Here’s the PROS AND CONS we found:

Pros:
• Gentle yet very thorough wash—no scratching!
• Attendants right there to help you
• Fun lights and cool sprayers—it’s like a show!
• Powerful vacuums and extras for detailing

Cons:
• So expensive! This is not your regular $5 car wash.
• They have limited hours. This one closes by 7 pm so no car washing whenever you want
• Kinda an eyesore to have a car wash in every corner in town.

What do you think? What Pros and Cons have you found? Do you like these big car was centers?
