10 Tips for Preventing BED BUGS!

How to prevent bed bugs at home and when traveling. 10 bed bug tips you need to know!

There is nothing that creeps me out more than the idea of bed bugs in my home, well, except maybe lice.  And the funny thing is I’ve never had either one or even seen them in real life!  But I’m all about prevention.  It totally make sense to me that doing as much as we can to prevent bed bugs from spreading is smart–and it also brings peace of mind (which is huge for me).

So even though I know you don’t even want to think about it, I bring you information about preventing bed bugs.  Here’s 10 Tips for Preventing Bed Bugs . . .

Stay with me folks, someday you are going to thank me for this post.

First some quick info about bed bugs for you:

10 Tips to Prevent Bed Bugs

AT HOME
* Use an encasement to completely cover your mattress like the encasement I tried from Amazon.  When bed bugs detect a host, they stick around.  This encasement prevents the bugs from making a home in your bed, and it’s reasonably priced.  This is a great idea if you have a lot of visitors staying at your house.

The encasement I tried is much like a sheet, but it covers the entire mattress and closes with a zipper.   Such a simple solution to prevent a big problem!

* Use metal headboards–not fabric!  The metal is too slippery for bed bugs to stay on.

* Try not to use curtains, dust ruffles, or bedskirts on your bed.  These just allow more places for the bed bugs to hide.

* Don’t buy a recycled mattress.

* When possible, wash and dry your bedding and clothes on the hottest cycle (120 degrees or above).  Bed bugs cannot live in extreme heat or cold.  If you don’t have access to a dryer, you can let your bedding sit in the sun for a few days.

TRAVELING

* Take sleep sack sheet liner for hotels and hostels and mattress encasements.

* Don’t leave your suitcase on the floor, bed, or fabric chairs at the hotel.  Keep your items sealed inside when you are not using them.

* Put your dirty clothes in a separate, sealed bag.

*  Use bed bug travel spray

* Check for hitchhiking bed bugs when you check out and before you get home.

You can find tons (and I mean tons!) more tips and information about bed bugs at bedbug.com.  They have info on preventing, treating, and identifying bed bugs–plus they have many great, safe products to help you sleep peacefully.

So I hope this didn’t freak you out too much.  As they say, “Sleep tight.  Don’t let the bed bugs bite!” (Aw, come on, you know I had to say it!)

FUN DATE NIGHT IDEA! @warehouse22utah Cinebites br FUN DATE NIGHT IDEA! @warehouse22utah Cinebites brings you dinner and a movie at the same time!

Enjoy a themed dinner while you watch a fun movie. The menu goes a long with the movie and is served to you while you are watching the scene it relates to. We saw Holes (which we love!) but there are many others to choose from. Our menu had a fun drinks, appetizers, main course, sides, and dessert. I left satisfied and had a fun time with my hubby and our friends.

Purchase tickets online. Seating is first come, first served so arrive early if you want a certain seat (though there isn’t a bad seat at all). Let me know if you try this!

Definitely full of kid vibes but adults will like it too. A who-dun-it mystery. We laughed out loud a lot more than we expected!

Are you wondering if the Thanksgiving Point Festiv Are you wondering if the Thanksgiving Point Festival is worth visiting this year? Here’s a look at what we saw today.

We’ve had a lot of up and down weather so I wasn’t surprised to find a lot of the tulips already finishing up their season on April 23. BUT we still found quite a few areas with some big, beautiful blooms and it was a peaceful walk with less crowds. There were signs reminding us that more tulips were going to be blooming soon, so maybe wait a week or so if you want to see those new tulips.

Thank you @utahstulipfestival for a fun visit! @thankspoint @theashtongardens #tulipfestival #utahtulipfestival #tulipseason #springinutah #traveltips

It’s was the perfect day to see a rom com and my hubby was a good sport to see a play called “Hallmarked” (NOT his favorite play so far). The play definitely lives up to its name—lots of predictable moments, plot holes, and cheesy lines. 🫤 But when it makes fun of itself, you will laugh and leave feeling lighthearted.
