New Podcast for Medical Spouses and Families

Friends!  I know many of you out there are just like me trying to figuring out to get through this life raising children while still enjoying marriage.  It’s hard.  I get it.  And for many of you life is made harder by the jobs we have or the professions we choose.  Certain professions come with difficult circumstances–like police officers for instance.  And I believe that life in the medical profession is the same way.  If you or a loved one are in the medical field then you know what I’m talking about–long hours, never-ending tests and schooling, life-threatening cases, emotional situations, and time away from family.  A lot of time away from family.  Well, now there’s a place just for those people who are married to doctors.  It’s NEW podcast and website called Married To Doctors (www.marriedtodoctors.com).  This a place to talk, share, vent, and feel inspired as you go through the medical journey with your spouse.

Married To Doctors is all about making successful homes happier.  It’s all about family and marriage.  Whether you have a doctor in your life or not, you should give this podcast a try.

Lara McElderry of Married To Doctors

Married To Doctors was actually started by my good friend Lara McElderry.  I met her family many years ago when my husband was starting med school.  She’s been through quite the medical journey with her husband that includes 16 years of studying, moving many times, and raising 5 boys (you’ve gotta hear her story!) and somehow she’s still able to laugh through it all.  Many times I have called her on the phone to tell her of my woes, and I end up laughing until my stomach hurts.  She’s practical, down to earth, and full of good advice.  And most of all, Lara wants to listen.  She wants to hear your story and she wants to know what you need to help your life with a doctor be happy and healthy.  Her podcast consists of experts with helpful advice as well as stories and experiences from everyday people.  Her interview sessions are inspiring!  Even if you are not in the medical field, be sure to have listen and subscribe.  You will not be disappointed!

I was excited to be a guest on Lara’s podcast back in December.  When Lara contacted me and asked me to be on her podcast and talk about my accident and miracle that happened while we were in medical school I was hesitant.  But I’m glad I said yes because it was super fun (and maybe a little therapeutic) to talk with Lara and share such a personal story.  I hope you will have a listen to my podcast and see how getting hit by an intoxicated driver while I was 6 months pregnant really impacted my life.  {My podcast episode can be found HERE}.  And thanks for listening!

The Mission Statement of Married to Doctors is simple: Making Successful Homes Happier.  They strive to do this by building community, sharing our stories, and exploring solutions. If you are interested in being a guest on the podcast or submitting a blog post, please contact Lara at [email protected].
