Guest Post: How You Can Choose the Best Online Payment Processor

Today is a special guest post from Haleystar’s Blog at Mommy Blogger Directory.  This week I did a guest post for Mommy Blogger Directory on Making Dinner Special Again.  Hope you read it if you get a chance.
Enjoy!

How You Can Choose the Best Online Payment Processor
There are many ways for you to accept credit card payments online through your blog. While many banks provide merchant accounts that can allow someone to receive online payments, these are usually quite costly, require that you own a registered business, plus may require that you make a very high volume of transactions per month to qualify. Therefore, most bloggers use third party payment processors to accept payments on their blog. But how do you choose the best company for your needs after comparing a few? Here are some tips:

Make Sure You Qualify to Use Their Services

Not all payment processing companies accept users from around the world. Some of them also have restrictions on the types of items that you can sell through your blog.

Examine the Company’s Reputation

There are some major players in the online payments business, such as PayPal, Google Checkout and Amazon Payments, which have been around for years and have a solid reputation. There are also a few other, smaller companies out there. Take a look at how long the company has been in business. Also, do a quick search to find some reviews of the company you want to deal with, which is an excellent way of hearing from other people who have used their services. Discussion forums aimed at webmasters and online marketers are also very good sources of information on various companies to process your payments.

Look at Their Fee Structure

Some companies may charge you a monthly fee, which applies even if you didn’t make any transactions. Others only charge you when you receive payments from customers. Be sure to take into consideration all applicable fees. Some companies may charge you additional fees, such as charges for withdrawing money to your bank account, or to convert your funds into another currency.
