French Toast Breakfast Trifle

Make french toast feel fancy with this easy breakfast trifle recipe. Perfect for brunches, Sunday morning breakfast, or Christmas morning!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 pieces of Texas Toast
  • 4-6 eggs
  • 3/4 cup cinnamon sugar
  • 20 strawberries, sliced
  • 3-4 cups of whipped cream
  • 1 cup of maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Crack the eggs and place them in a medium sized bowl.  Pour in some cinnamon sugar to the egg mixture, and beat it with the fork until it is a brown color. For this recipe you will want fluffy bread cut in thick slices.  We used Texas Toast, it works very well.  White bread will taste best, but for a healthier option you could use wheat bread. Dip a piece of Texas Toast into the eggs on both sides. Don’t soak it too long, but make sure there’s plenty of egg on there. Place the toast onto a greased skillet on medium heat. Cook until the bread is firm and eggs are cooked through.  You may have to adjust the heat so that the inside and outside of bread can cook evenly. Whip some cream and add sugar.  Slice some fresh strawberries, and cut the french toast into square chunks.  (Try not to smash it- kitchen scissors work great.)  You will need some maple syrup as well, natural is always best. Start layering the ingredients, starting with the maple syrup, then the french toast, the strawberries and whipped cream. To make it look pretty, place some strawberries on the edge and on top with a plop of whipped cream.
